Self-limited temperature tracing cable, also known as self-regulating heating cable, is a flexible cable that contains a conductive polymer core. This conductive polymer has unique properties that allow the cable to automatically adjust its heat output based on the surrounding temperature. As the temperature decreases, the polymer contracts, increasing the number of electrical paths and generating more heat. Conversely, as the temperature increases, the polymer expands, reducing the number of electrical paths and decreasing the heat output.
The self-regulating feature of this cable makes it highly energy-efficient. It only consumes electricity when heat is required, and it does not overheat or waste energy when the temperature rises. This self-limiting characteristic also eliminates the need for thermostats or temperature controls, as the cable adjusts its heat output automatically.
