The principle of electric heating technology is to generate heat by passing current through the heating cable. Its core structure is the heating cable, which consists of a heating core, an insulation layer, a shielding layer and a sheath. The heating core is usually an alloy heating wire. This heat can effectively increase the temperature of relevant parts in the tunnel and prevent icing.

 

In tunnels, electric heating systems can be installed in multiple key locations. For example, the drainage system of a tunnel is a key area of ​​protection. Installing electric heating cables around the drainage pipes can ensure that the water in the pipes will not freeze due to low temperatures, ensuring smooth drainage. Once the drainage pipes are blocked by ice, water will accumulate in the tunnel, and the accumulated water will quickly freeze at low temperatures, causing a series of safety issues.

 

The lining surface of the tunnel can also be installed with an electric heating system. Especially in areas that are vulnerable to cold air, such as the entrance, electric heating can maintain the temperature of the lining surface above the freezing point to prevent moisture from condensing into ice on the lining surface. This not only ensures driving safety, but also extends the service life of the lining.

 

The advantages of the electric heating system are numerous. First, it is a precise temperature control method that can be adjusted according to the actual temperature requirements in the tunnel to avoid unnecessary energy waste. Secondly, the electric heating system is relatively environmentally friendly and will not corrode and pollute the tunnel structure and the surrounding environment like salting. Furthermore, the installation of the electric heating system is relatively flexible and can be customized according to the structure and requirements of different tunnels.

 

However, electric heating systems also face some challenges when applied to tunnel anti-icing. For example, the cost of electric heating systems is relatively high, including the cost of equipment procurement, installation and subsequent maintenance. At the same time, the reliability requirements of electric heating systems are extremely high. Once a failure occurs, icing may occur rapidly in cold weather.

 

In order to better use electric heating to prevent tunnel icing, detailed thermal calculations are required in the design stage to determine the appropriate heating cable model and installation layout. During the installation process, operations must be strictly carried out in accordance with relevant specifications to ensure the safety and reliability of the system. During the operation stage, the electric heating system must be inspected and maintained regularly to promptly detect and handle possible faults.
